Pay It Forward

So often with charitable organizations, we love the idea of helping individuals to attain a better life. It’s easy to forget that each of those individuals, as they flourish, also touches tens or hundreds of other lives in their sphere.

The women of Timbali Crafts help feed over 3,000 vulnerable and orphaned kids every day in rural Swaziland! Most of the artisans are single or widowed mothers of several children, and many are grandmothers or have taken in the children of others. Truly an embodiment of  God’s commandment to love your neighbor. They started making cotton articles to sell and it grew to something larger than they had dreamed!

Their bright & beautiful cotton bags are roomy, practical and uplifting to own, as you think about meeting the needs of kids who, without us, would struggle to be nourished and educated. Here at Flower & Home Marketplace we’re selling four sizes of Timbali Crafts’ cotton bags. From the cosmetic bag and north/south travel purse up to the shwe shwe purse (a modified hobo bag) and the large sling with 2 roomy pockets and a chunky wooden button, there’s a size you’ll love and one or two to give. Stop in to see them in our redesigned Boutique!

In the Bible, Proverbs 31 describes a wife of noble character (and these truths reflect the women of Timbali Crafts, whether they are married or not):

v. 13: She selects wool and flax, and works with eager hands.

v. 15: She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family.

v. 20: She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
